After 67 years of living life full of adventures, good friends and great memories with family, Sandy went out his way. Sandy Branchi style, at home, surrounded by the people who loved him the most.
Sandy was the backbone of the Branchi family, adored by his parents Rino and Mag and big sister Laurie. Sandy's early childhood was spent growing up in Camp 5. He spent most weekends in Cumberland visiting family and going "up the lake". The family then moved to Campbell River. He spent his teenage years swimming on the swim team, four-wheeling in his Blazer with his buddies and cruising the Tyee plaza in his Camaro.
Sandy loved doing his yardwork, puttering in his workshop and was the handyman extraordinaire. Sandy was a generous man, one to give the shirt off his back to help out any of his buddies. He was a hardworking, dedicated, always honest and sometimes slightly stubborn man. He enjoyed motorcycle trips, hunting with friends and commercial fishing. Sandy loved his days working in the bush building roads with his crew and best friend Steve.
Sandy met Risa in their early 20s, the "love of his life" as he would always tease her. The two of them spent many years boating, camping, skiing, and lots of partying with great friends. "40 years of bliss" as they often joked. Together they built their first home, where Sandy quickly became outnumbered having three daughters Anna, Paula, and Janine. Life was crazy busy as a family of five going on many sports trips, vacations, camping and spending time on the water. Sandy was so proud of "his girls" and they felt it. From the time the girls were little they idolized their Dad. As they got older, they appreciated all the little things he did for them to show his love.
As hard as this has been on the family, there have been many beautiful moments together. Sandy was a proud man, but he showed so much sweetness and love the last couple months and had his family laughing right until the end. He was so grateful for the love and care that was given to him by his girls and Risa. We are going to miss his love, his infectious laugh, but especially our Dad.
In lieu of flowers, the family is planning to donate to a charity close to Sandy's heart.
