Gerry passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 after living a life that most of us could only dream of. A testament to his spirit are the friends and family he left behind.

Gerry started in forestry at an early age and quickly worked his way to the top of a spar tree, working as a high rigger and raising a family at Camp 5, Bloedel BC until 1962. He and Dorothy then bought a small greenhouse on Elm Street in Campbell River and turned it into a tomato empire!!! In 1975, after building 11 greenhouses, having a 13 year run, and growing 7 tons of tomatoes that year, Gerry and Dorothy retired from their business.

Soon after, Gerry bought a commercial troller named the Venture Bank, and fished with his sons and grandsons for 20 years.

With gardening in his blood, Gerry built greenhouses at home, sharing his famous tomatoes with neighbours, friends, and family. As a bonus, he quietly put on a begonia display that was second to none. We were so lucky!

Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, our mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dorothy Miller. His daughter Lynda; sons Daniel, Russell (Eileen), and David (Karen) of Campbell River.

His grandchildren Corey (Brandy), Casey, Kelly (Shannon), Brandi (Jason), Greg (Shari), Malcolm(Kaitlin), Coleton(Nicki), and Zack. His four great-grandchildren Josh, Leah, Sophie and Hayden.

Gerry instilled hard work, kindness, and generosity within his family. He had fond memories of the people he befriended throughout his years in Campbell River. His kind spirit and sense of humor will be greatly missed and never forgotten. A private family service will take place at a future date.
