May 2, 2012

George Albert Eccles

April 23, 1928 ~ May 2, 2012

The family of George Eccles regret to announce his passing on Wednesday after a short illness.  George was born in Stockport,  England and was evacuated to Australia during the War years. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 and lived in Toronto until 1966 when he married his longtime friend Kathleen, and together they moved to Newmarket, Ontario.

Kathleen and George moved to Vancouver Island in 1974 where George was a volunteer firefighter in Willow Point, and a custodian for school district 72.

George is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Isobel (nee Elders), his daughter Susan Simpson, and his sons Ray Butcher, Jim Butcher, and Bill Eccles.

A gathering of close friends and family will be held at a later date. Please feel encouraged to send donations in George’s memory to the Campbell River Hospice Society.

Miss Me, But Let Me Go.

When I come to the end of the road,

And the sun has set for me,

I want no rites in gloom-filled rooms,

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little--but not too long,

And not with your head bowed low;

Remember the love that we once shared

Miss me--but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take,

And each must go alone.

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,

A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart,

Go to the friends we know,

And busy your sorrows in doing good deeds.

Miss me - but let me go.
