George Arthur Wray

George Arthur Wray passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2011 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. He will be profoundly and sadly missed by his wife Marlene (nee Crozier) daughter Jackie (Al), son Mike, brother Ed (Betty) and their families, many nieces and nephews and good friends.

George was a man of strength and courage amplified as, in good cheer, he overcame injury after injury.

George was born in Powell River, BC to John and Alice Wray. After hand logging with his Dad and brother Ed, he eagerly joined the Navy, then under age. During these early years he was a formidable boxer. George was a 50 year “gentleman of the forest”, with many years spent falling at Woss Camp. During an early break in his logging career he also worked as Dispatcher for Georgia Shipping. In his retirement he was an avid golfer and traveler. George was also a proud member of the Legion for over 50 years.

A celebration of Life will be held on January 22nd, 2011 at Sequoia Springs Golf Course (700 Peterson Road, Campbell River, BC), staring at 2:00PM.

In lieu of flowers please donate, in the name of George Wray, to the Canadian Cancer Society. An account has been set up at Coastal Community Credit Union, Willow Point Community Branch, Unit 3, 2253 S. Island Highway, Campbell River, BC, V9W 1C4.
