It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gary Patrucco, on July 13, 2020 in Campbell River.
Gary grew up in Powell River with his mother Enid, father Ader ("Pat") and two siblings: Greg and Cindy-Lou. He made many lifelong friends there, and enjoyed spending time with them "up the lake" or exploring the waters around Savary Island.
After graduating from UBC, Gary worked as a professional forester for over 38 years, which took him to many communities throughout coastal BC, primarily on Haida Gwaii and Vancouver Island. He and Cathy were married in 1979, and they have two children, Jessica and Ian.
Gary was always willing to help others out and touched a number of lives through his generosity of spirit. He always enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews, as well as a number of honorary grandchildren. He took great pleasure in his role as grandfather to his own grandson, Simon, and treasured any time they could spend with each other.
He is survived by his wife Cathy, daughter Jessica, son-in-law Brent, son Ian, grandson Simon, mother Enid, sister Cindy-Lou, as well as his nieces, nephews, their partners, his cousins, sisters- and brothers-in-law, and many dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
