It is with great sadness that the family of Garry Mitchell announce the passing of our much loved husband, dad, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend.

Garry passed away, where he wished, at his home in Campbell River, after a 2 year struggle with cancer.

Garry was predeceased by his son Kevin in 1983, his mom Gladys in 1998, his dad Edward in 1963, and his birth parents Kelso and Isabelle. Garry is survived by and will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife Jenny Cox , his children Shannon Sandau (Gord), Eileen Cox (Barry), Jamie McLean (Lana), and Rob McLean (Lauren), grandchildren Dustin, Braden, Mitchell, Kasey, Megan, and Kodie, siblings Nancy (Harry), Linda (Luc), John (Brenda), George (Valerie), Andy, Judy, and Wendy, his step-mother Marj, as well as several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Garry worked as a realtor in Calgary for several years. He then worked as an auto bodyman for 20 years at No. 1 Auto Body in Campbell River, until his retirement in 2005. He was an avid curler, and his other joys included fishing, camping, golf and socializing with friends and family.

Garry will be remembered by family and friends for his love of life, sense of humour, and the stories and laughter he would share with us. He was always willing to give a hand to anyone, and was loved by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by all.

A Celebration of Garry’s Life, is to be held at the Royal Canadian Legion- 301-11th Avenue, Campbell River, B.C. on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so, may give a donation to the Canadian Cancer Resource Centre, 1423B-16th Avenue, Campbell River, BC V9W 2E4. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Nurse Cathy and staff at VIHA Home and Community Care, and Dr. Carswell-for their support and comfort during this difficult time.
