It is with immense sadness that the family of Fern Seaboyer announces her passing after an unexpected cancer diagnosis less than two months ago.
Born in Mayo Landing, Yukon, and raised in Ocean Falls, BC, Fern was a UBC graduate who spent the past 58 years in Campbell River. For nearly 30 of those, she was a proud teacher of SD72, and the driving force behind the Sybil Andrews Heritage Society.
Though she had several hobbies, Fern always found herself traveling and had many adventures, including a trip to Madagascar at age 78 with her beloved granddaughter, Emily. Fern was predeceased by her husband, Al Seaboyer, and her parents, Carl and Kay DeClercq (West Vancouver). She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Greg) Koopman (Campbell River) and Karen Seaboyer (Vancouver); her granddaughter, Emily (Campbell River); her brother, Doug (Liz) DeClercq (Duncan) and sister, Julie van Stolk (Gibsons), as well as family members and friends on both coasts.
As Fern loved animals, for those who wish, donations can be made to an animal charity of choice. Her family gives special thanks to the doctors and homecare nurses who braved home visits during the current pandemic. A celebration of life to honour Fern will be held at a later date.
