December 14, 1944 - December 9, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother, Evelyn.
She fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and is now at peace.
Predeceased by her son, Raymond (1999), son in law, Steve (2015); as well as her parents Willa and Raymond Tippie and brother Dennis.
Mom was married to the love of her life Denny for 58 years and is survived by her children Allan (Shelley) and Leanne (Don). Her 3 grandsons, who gave her so much joy Shawn (Lydia), Trent and Kevin (Maggie).
Mom was raised in the Kootenays, but came to the island to follow Denny and they married in Nanaimo in 1963. Shortly thereafter they made their way around the island for work, with stops in Ucluelet, Port Alberni and eventually settled in Sayward to work and raise their family. They spent many years in Sayward with mom working at BC Ferries and eventually finished her career with MacMillan Bloedel, Eve River Division. Her fondest memories of work was being "mom" to all the guys. Mom loved her work and the friendships she made along the way.
Upon retirement in 1998, mom and dad moved to Campbell River to be closer to the kids and grand babies. She loved her time with her grandsons and cherished watching them grow up to be fine young men. Mom volunteered with the Eagles and at the Hospital Thrift shop. She had her close friends whom she cherished each of their relationships. Mom and Dad spent the last 25 years as Snowbirds and travelled to their favourite sunny destination, El Centro, CA. They loved the sun, golf and the good friends they made there. A surprise down there, was meeting her long lost cousin Cherie - they never got to spend their time growing up together, but sure enjoyed the last 14 years having their winters together.
There will be no service per mom's request and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of mom to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice.
A special thank you to Dr. Lebeuf, Dr. Morrison, Dr. Farias and the Homecare team of ladies. Your compassion, care, dedication and constant support has made this journey so much easier.
