BUCK,

Evelyn

It is with heart breaking sadness we announce the sudden passing of Eve on January 17th, 2008.  She will be fiercely missed by her son Robert (Jacqueline) of Nanaimo, daughter Hazel (Dale) of Coquitlam, nephew Warren (Lynn) of Banff, niece Brittany of Nanaimo, many relatives in England and all her friends in Campbell River.  Eve emigrated with her husband and two children from England to Canada in 1966, moving to Northern Alberta and working as a school librarian.  She eventually moved with her family to Campbell River in 1980, working at Carihi for many years as a school librarian and for several years in the library at the Campbell River Museum.

Eve was the epitome of an English lady.  She carried herself with class and dignity no matter what the circumstances.  She overcame many challenges throughout life with such poise.  She was intelligent, strong, stoic, fiercely loyal and protective of her children, had a quick wit and was extremely beautiful inside and out.  She loved a good conversation or debate and had a streak of feminism for which she was well ahead of her time.  She taught her children by example that education, self improvement, self preservation and independence were important and beneficial at any age.  We learned from her until the very end.  She was a voracious reader, loved to dance, paint, walk, to laugh and to explore nature.  Her open mindedness and forward thinking made her appreciate and embrace all things new and was game to try just about anything (going to see rock bands, cave spelunking, acupuncture – and these are just recent examples!).

Mom, you will be loved, missed and treasured forever.

A memorial service will be held at Ocean Crest Community Church, 291 McLean St., Campbell River, on February 9th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
