Eva Fredricka

May 15, 1913-February 4, 2008


The family of Eva Ohlinger, much loved mother and grandmother was called home to heaven just a few months short of her ninety-fifth birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Ohlinger in 1977. She leaves behind sons Hadley (Sandra) and Blaine (Marnie) grandchildren Dana, Paul (Amanda) Carla (Todd) Tracy (Pat) and Tod.

Great grandchildren Rhys, Carly, Jenna, Kianna, Tia, Kaitlyn and Christopher, sister Audrey in Melfort, Sask., and brother Rudy (Lee) in Nanaimo, and numerous nephews and nieces across Canada.

Born in Earl Grey, Saskatchewan, Eva graduated from Luther College in Regina and began her long teaching career in the depths of the depression of the thirties starting a one room school house with eight grades. She and Fred later became house parents opening Victoria House in Regina to provide care to disadvantaged young girls who became as daughters.

Eva enjoyed a busy social life enjoying her church family and her chums at the Happy Wanderers as well as the folks at Ironwood Place. She had the opportunity to travel to Scotland, Australia, China and Cuba before taking her last journey.

She never forgot a friend, a birthday or a kindness.

She never stopped missing her dear Fred.

A celebration of Eva's life will be held at the Bethany Luthern Church, 201 Birch Street, Campbell River on Friday, February 15th, 2008 at 1:30pm.

ISLAND FUNERAL SERVICES/ELK FALLS CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 909 ISLAND HIGHWAY, CAMPBELL RIVER entrusted with arrangements.
