Ero was the youngest son of Victor and Olga, a resident of the Campbell River area since 1929 and passed away in Campbell River Hospital after a brief stay. He was predeceased by his son John; brother Eino and sister Irma Ovaskainen. Ero is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 54 years, Nina; father to Robert, Janice (Mike) and David; brother to George; brother-in-law to Nora Lidberg; uncle to Laila Hill, Larry Ovaskainen (Vicki), Gail Baird (Chuck), Lorne Saarikko, Julie Wright (Larry), Laurie Smith (John) and their families. Ero lived and worked in this area all of his life in the logging industry at Mac & Blo in Kelsey Bay for 35 years as well as others before that. He took great pleasure in his family, his passion was for hunting and fishing and initiated family and friends to that enjoyment. Ero lived courageously with Alzheimer’s Disease for the last 7 years of his life. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank those in the community for their support and especially Campbell River Home Support and Campbell River & District Adult Care Society. A private Family Service was held at the MEMORIAL CHAPEL OF ELK FALLS CREMATORIUM, HIGHWAY #28, AT ELK FALLS MEMORIAL CEMETERY on Monday, September 12, 2005. In lieu of flowers donations in Ero’s memory can be made to the Campbell River and District Adult Care Society, 12-142 Larwood Road, Campbell River, B.C. V9W 1S2, would be appreciated.
