June 23, 1941 - January 30, 2021
Elsie was born in Lestock Saskatchewan on June 23rd, 1941, as the eleventh and youngest child to Frank and Magdolna Dobos.
She was raised on the family dairy and berry farms in Lestock and later in Bradner, BC. It was in the Fraser Valley that she met her only husband, Gord Killoran, marrying in 1958 and five years later having her first of two children, Chris, and then her second son, Randy, arrived after the young family moved to Campbell River where Gord had secured his long running job at the Elk Falls Pulp Mill.
Being a mother and homemaker were Elsie's true joys in life and while raising her children in Campbell River she excelled at it. She never missed an opportunity to donate to elementary school bake sales, she drove her sons to whatever practice was required, her home was kept spotless, and there was a little treat for every child that came through the front door of her home.
After 32 years Elsie and Gord parted company, so Elsie moved back to the Fraser Valley where her mother and some brothers and sisters were still living and enjoyed her happy natured life in the company of her large family.
Being the youngest child it was fated to Elsie to see her family pass away over the years, and when she was left alone she moved to Comox, BC, which was well suited to visit with her sons who were in Calgary and Campbell River.
She lived the last ten years of her life enjoying the quiet Comox neighborhood she lived in, and spent her time cooking and baking in anticipation of the regular visits from her sons.
After surviving two previous cancers, Elsie passed away in her Comox home from lung cancer on January 30th, 2021, having been cared for in her final months by Chris and Randy, with assistance from the Comox Valley Home Care and Home Support nurses and care aids.
In addition to her sons, Elsie leaves behind her beloved granddaughters Mary Caitlin and Meaghan Elizabeth, her adored great grandson Warren James, and her brothers James and Louis.
She has been laid to rest at the Elk Falls Cemetery in Campbell River.
