It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved Elsa Margarete Martin on August 14, 2017. Elsa Martin (Johnson) was born in Outlook, SK on August 28, 1955 to Edward and Marget Johnson. In 1966, at age 11, she moved with her family to Campbell River, where Elsa has resided. Elsa graduated from Carihi in 1972. Upon graduation, Elsa worked as a cashier at the local Safeway store. In 1976 Elsa met her husband, Steve Martin. They were married in 1977. After being married, Elsa assisted her husband in the managing of their commercial fishing and property management business.

Elsa is survived by her husband Steve, and their children, Crystal, Richard, and Michael (Candice) and grandson; Nathaniel; siblings: Mark (Holly), Julie (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Marget Johnson.

Elsa loved many recreational and volunteer activities. Her hobbies included: sewing, camping, entertaining, gardening, swimming in the family pool and cooking. She was widely known for her seafood culinary skills, where she developed several of her own unique, west-coast seafood dishes.

Elsa's greatest joy and devotion was to her husband and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who gave endlessly to the care, education, and needs of others. Thank-you for all the years of unconditional love and selfless service you gave to our family and community. You will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Kidney Foundation.

A Celebration of Elsa's life will be held on 24th August, 2017 at 11:00am at the Campbell River Baptist Church, 260 S. Dogwood St., Campbell River, BC
