Jochimski,

Edwin (Ed)

Jan. 19, 1926 ~ June 5, 2008

Following a long battle with Dementia, Ed passed away on June 5, 2008 at New Horizons, Campbell River.

Ed is survived & missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Lilo; Sisters Irma & Charlotte (Germany); his children Gerd, Lothar (Karen), Willy, Claudia (Robert), Renate (Werner) & Chris (Christine), 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Ed brought his wife & 3 boys to Canada from Germany in 1957 and they settled in Yellowknife, NWT where Ed worked at Giant Mines. In search of a less harsh lifestyle, Ed & Lilo decided to move their family to first Elliot Lake and then Manitouwadge, Ont. where he worked in the mining industry & at the same time owned and operated marinas. Two daughters and another son joined the family.

In 1970, Ed moved his family to Campbell River where he worked at the then Western Mine until he left a few years later to start his own general construction company, Paco Construction.

Ed came to Canada in search of a lifestyle that included the freedom to enjoy the outdoors and he spent his spare time fishing, hunting, and enjoying nature. Ed also took great delight in spending time with his family and travelling with Lilo. Ed & Lilo's last trip was an Alaskan Cruise in 2000 to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.

We'll Miss you Dad.

A Private family gathering to celebrate Ed's Life was held on Tuesday June 10th.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Society of BC.
