April 23, 1946 - December 13, 2015

Edward was born in Vernon, BC to James and Rita Rowsell on April 23, 1946. While attending Vernon High School, Ed spent three seasons working in Yoho National Park. After graduation, Ed spent two years in drafting school and then on to BCIT to pursue a career in forestry. In 1967 he met the love of his life, Lorraine, who he married on August 29, 1970. In 1972 Ed & Lorraine moved to Tahsis as Ed took a job with Tahsis company as a Forest Engineer. They moved with the intention of staying for two years but fell in love with the community. In April 1975 they welcomed their first son Darren; in March 1980 came their second son Gregory and in February 1983, their 3rd son Jeffrey. Tahsis was the perfect place for Ed and Lorraine to raise their three boys. In 1990 Ed and his partner, Brander Hopkins, built their fishing lodge in Tahsis Narrows. They spent many years operating it as a lodge and created many memories as a family; fishing, working & hosting picnics. Ed spent many years volunteering in the community with the Lions Club, Chamber, Logger Sports, director and Boy Scout leader, as well as Alderman.

Ed is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lorraine; his 3 sons Darren (Joanne), Greg (Jen & Grandson Forrest) and Jeff, his 2 brothers Roy & Peter (Wendy), his niece Christina (Chad, Hudson & Desmond) his nephew Paul and his great nephews Mitchell, Parker & Paxton. Ed is predeceased by his mom Rita Rowsell, his dad James Rowsells, his step-father Len Tober, his nephew James Rowsell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 1:00pm at Sutton’s Campbell River Funeral Home, 502 South Dogwood Street, Campbell River BC
