Edmund Arthur Clouston Fry died Saturday June 11, 2016 from pancreatic cancer. Ted, as he was known by friends and family, was born in Montreal to parents Evelyn Campbell Clouston and Edmund Botterell Fry. As a young boy, Ted could be found swimming, sailing and skating on the lake across from his home in Baie D’Urfe, Quebec and at his beloved family’s summer home on Lac Brûlé. He served as a ski patroller in both Quebec, and later in Ontario- where he was the ski patrol leader of Caledon Ski Club for many years.

Ted studied geology at McGill University, traveling to Hudson Bay to perform geological survey work. Later Ted shifted focus to business studies and worked as a stockbroker in Montreal, in publishing (serving as a Vice president of Gage publishing in Toronto and of Richard D. Irwin Publishing in Georgetown), selling group and life insurance (SunLife) and later working in both financial planning and insurance in his own business in Glen Williams, ON and in Campbell River, BC. The most rewarding part of Ted’s business and volunteer work (for the United Way and Rotary) was the relationships he formed and supported in others.

Many of his years were spent in Glen Williams, Ontario, where he and his wife, Susan, raised a family. Seeking new horizons, greater proximity to his children on the west coast, and opportunities to fish and be in nature year-round, he and Susan moved to Campbell River, B.C. There they found a lovely spot to observe nature- and boats bound for Alaska- from their home and a community of friends who would support him into his final days.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, children William (wife Kaitlin and children Adi and Ethan) and Mary (husband Kipp), extended family and friends and his faithful canine companion, Jade.
