Doug McDonald of Campbell River, BC passed away unexpectedly at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC on February 3, 2021 at the age of 79.
Doug was born in Comox, BC, July 7, 1941, to Dorothy "Dot" and Donald "Mac" McDonald.
He lived in Courtenay, BC until 1963 when he married his high school sweetheart Gaylene "Gay" Foster. They moved to Campbell River, BC where their two daughters Christina "Christi" and Susan were born.
During his teenage years Doug was a member of DeMolay and Scouts. As a Scout he was awarded the honor of Queen's Scout, the highest youth award achievable. Doug was an accomplished handyman, always busy building, fixing, or making "stuff" around our home and for his girls.
After a lifelong fascination with trains, Doug became an avid model railroader, a member of the North Island Model Railroaders and built a layout at home.
Doug enjoyed the many camping trips, parties, birthday celebration and more with "The Gang".
A special thank you to Dr. Meckin and Dr. Dhansay for their years of care as well as the Cardiac Care team at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
