Passed away at Campbell River Hospital peacefully on Father’s Day at the age of 90 years.
Doug spent his early childhood in the Yukon, then moved to North Vancouver, he met his wife Sylvia in White Rock, where they were married in 1943. They moved to Campbell River in 1945. He spent many years as a volunteer with the Campbell River Fire Department and went on to become a paid member of the department and one of the first ambulance drivers in Campbell River. He is predeceased by his wife Sylvia, of 49 years, in 1992. He is survived by daughters Roberta Nelson and Gale (Peter) Kostiuk, grandchildren Brad (Cheryl) Nelson, Ken (Sylvie) Nelson, Patti (Dale) Epp, Sandy (Hugh) Vanderveen and 9 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Campbell River Hospital. Service to be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Friday June 29, 2007, 11:30am. Luncheon to follow in the church hall.
