Doug

JAN 15, 1928 –

MAY 27, 2009

Passed away at Campbell River Hospital on May 27, 2009.

Doug was predeceased by his wife Lorna. He will be greatly missed by sons Stephen (Mary) & Rick (Lisé), daughter Marilyn (John) & grandchildren Nick, Cynthia, Chris & Kelsey.

Doug was born in Trail, BC on Jan. 15, 1928. When he was 2 years old his family moved to Quadra Island. At age 15 Doug began working on a commercial fish boat. He loved fishing and continued to work in the industry until he retired.

In 1949 Doug married Lorna, who was the love of his life and wife for 59 years. Doug & Lorna liked to travel. They travelled to Hawaii, Florida, California, New Zealand, Australia and the Caribbean.

Doug also enjoyed visiting with friends in the coffee shop & trying his luck at the slot machines once in a while. He will be remembered for the great stories he told about his life & the "old days" on Quadra. Doug will also be remembered for his friendly nature, big heart & being a loving husband, dad and grandpa.

Many thanks to the Campbell River Home Care nurses, Home Support, Dr. Graham, Dr. Kellerhals, staff at Quadra Medical Clinic, Quadra ambulance Crew, Colleen & staff at Peoples Drug Mart for your care and kindness. With your help, Doug was able to stay at home as long as possible.

Also thanks to DR. Klein & the staff at Campbell River Hospital for looking after Doug so well in his final days.

Very special thanks to Tommy, Betty, Sandra, Anca, Casey & Joanne for your friendship & support.

At Doug's request there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Quadra Island Salmon Enhancement Society would be appreciated. Donations can be mailed to Box 413, Quathiaski Cove, BC V0P 1N0.
