A life Well Lived

A True inspiration, Always putting others first. His calm gentle personality and warm smile will be cherished forever by family and friends.

Dennis was born in Drumheller Alberta to parents Oscar and Bertha Smith. Dennis was the youngest of 8 boys and had 2 older sisters and 2 younger sisters.

While working as a Government surveyor on the Trans Canada Highway, he met his wife Olga. They married and had 2 children before relocating to Vancouver Island, where Dennis lived the rest of his life. Dennis spent many years as a manager of logging road crews.

After an early retirement Dennis and Olga spent the next few years traveling around North America and enjoyed retired life.

Olga was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Dennis later became her caregiver.

Dennis had many friends and acquaintances. You could find him riding his bike around Nanaimo, or shooting pool at the Bowen Park Senior Centre.

Dennis is survived by his wife Olga (care home), his son William (Jude), his daughter Elizabeth (Cameron), Grandson Rick (Korrine) and great granddaughter Attalie, as well as his sister Lona (Harvey), sister Loretta, and sister Bonnie (Brent).

He is Forever Loved and Missed.

There will be no Memorial Service by Request. Dennis requested his friends listen to the song "The Highwayman" by Willie Nelson.
