It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Robson who passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital on January 17, 2018 at the age of 76 years.
He was the loving father of son David Jr. (Cindy) Robson; daughters: Heather Fillery, Bonnie (Kevin) Valikoski and son in law Steve Ketch.
He will also be lovingly remembered by grandchildren: Cory (Keshia) Fillery, Dustin and Alissa Valikoski and Sarah Ketch; great granddaughter Savanah Fillery, the apple of his eye; niece Lynda (Norm) Delong as well as by numerous extended family and long time friends.
David is predeceased by his wife Betty (2011); daughter Roberta Ketch (2016); brothers: Roy, George, Charles, Jack; sister Isabelle and grandson Tyler (1991).
Born in Cowichan Station to parents George Robson and Nellie Uzzell, Dave spent his whole life in the Cowichan Valley, married his high school sweetheart Betty and raised their four children. He spent over forty years in the forest industry, first with his brother in Rivers Inlet and finishing up at Weyerhaeuser before retiring in 1999.
During his retirement he enjoyed Nascar, watching his grandchildren play sports, gardening, tinkering with his tractor in the yard; although his favorite was going for his daily drives and having short visits along the way.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Dave Jr. for all the care he provided so David could have his wish and stay home for as long as he did. We would also like to thank Dr. Ismail and the Nursing Staff at Cowichan District Hospital.
In honor of David's wishes, there will be no service at his request.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of David may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.
