November 21, 1946 - August 31, 2020
David Henry Nowosad born Nov. 21, 1946 in Vancouver, died Aug. 31, 2020 in Campbell River of a brain tumour.
David grew up in east Vancouver where he met his wife, Gisele, when they were 15 years old. He had many jobs in his youth but spoke most fondly of working for CP Rail.
In 1979, he moved his family to Campbell River to article as a Chartered Accountant. He later became a founding partner of Chan Nowosad Boates where he cultivated many enduring friendships with his clients.
David devoted his time to the many projects and hobbies he developed over the years. Never one to stand still, after retiring in 2004, he took-up a lot more. He was happiest when he had a problem to solve, a ramshackle contraption to build, or a new gadget to tinker with.
Curious and adventurous, David would jump headfirst and completely into anything he found interesting. Wistful in character, his perspective of the world was full of wonder and his appreciation for all things in life was contagious.
He pushed his family beyond their comfort zones; sometimes to their exasperation, mostly to their benefit. Whatever needed doing, David encouraged his family to do it together, from home renovations to fixing the cars. He always valued time and how to spend it, whether sailing the seas or cycling across Europe, the experience is what drove him.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Gisele, sons Damon (wife Rebecca, daughters Fiona and Gwendolyn) and Dylan (wife Sarah, daughters Ella and Celeste). To his granddaughters he was "Baba", who welcomed whatever their hearts desired. He also cherished his extended family and close friends.
