August 20, 1931 - July 20, 2020
It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of our Father after a brief and unexpected stay in the hospital. Dad was diagnosed with acute Leukemia and his personal Physician - Dr. Nelson as well as the staff assigned to D3 in the Campbell River Hospital treated him with compassionate care of which we are forever grateful.
Dad was born on Vancouver Island at the St. Michaels Hospital in Rock Bay, BC. His self taught skills were varied and numerous encompassing logging, commercial fishing (His vessels "The Aqua Queen" & "The Tropic Isle"), residential construction, millwork (Crown Z), mechanical and musical talents.
Our parents were married for 65 years until our Mother Edith's passing in 2017. This adventurous couple travelled by plane, train, and automobile, as well as the Columbia Mission Ships, Fishing vessels and Cruise Lines! They also travelled south by truck/5th wheel into the US for approx. 30 years becoming the first Canadian couple to be honored by the Death Valley 49ers with life time memberships.
Father carried on with his love of music; playing the Bones, Dobro and Mandolin. He was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association and was playing at an event 3 days prior to entering the hospital!
A life well lived with an over flowing treasure chest of memories and stories. Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and friend, Dad has now set his course upon the outgoing tide. Dave/Dad is survived by his Daughter Darlene Allan (Jim), Son Glenn Gark (Selina VanTassel),Daughter Maureen Jasper (Wayne), his Grandchildren Sierra Jasper (Shawn) and Darcy Jasper (Brandi Lovett), Sisters Dorene Dawson, Shirley Beauchamp, predeceased by Sister June Johnson. He will also be missed by numerous Nieces and Nephews.
