With great sadness, the family of David Downs announce his passing at home in Victoria BC on October 7, 2012 after an extended battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his father James Downs and his mother Matty Downs, David is survived by his daughter Carrie-Lynn McInnes (Dean) of Campbell River, his son Travis Downs (Carolina) of Vancouver and his grandson Cody Cahill of Campbell River. David is also survived by his sisters Anita Joyce (Hugh), Victoria and Marguerite Downs, Duncan; his brother Jim Downs, Duncan; his uncle Charles Downs (Mary), Port Coquitlam; and his nephews Dustin Downs (Melissa), Victoria, Joel Downs, Duncan, and Adam Downs, Duncan. Lovingly remembered by his close friend MaryAnn Routh of Campbell River.
Growing up in Campbell River, Dave had many friends but the adventures always started and ended with Trevor and AJ. Back then they were inseparable and lifelong friends. Some of the stories about his bike trips and mishaps should be in a book but you had to hear Dave tell them to really appreciate the experience. Did I ever tell you about the time ....?
Working for Sea Span for many years as a Cook/Deckhand, Dave loved the life and the companionship. And of course, if you ever wanted to get hold of Dave but couldn’t - you could be sure he was at ‘Church’ or at the ‘Office’.
The family wishes to thank MaryAnn Routh for the loving care she provided to David in her home in the weeks prior to his move to Victoria.
