November 28, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Cunning this November 28th, 2021 in Port Alberni, BC at the age of 66. Dave leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years; Lynette; their children Nicole and Jamie, his daughters; Misty and Adrea; as well as many grandchildren.
Victoria to kimberly to Alert Bay; Vancouver Island was always home to him. A true islander. In his life time; Dave worked many jobs; logging, underground mining, driving trucks to name a few, but loved his time as "ice man" at BC packers. After leaving Alert Bay, Campbell River became the
perfect place to settle down and raise his two youngest daughters with his wife Lynette. He quickly became well known in the community for his kindness and love of the outdoors. If you didn't know Dave by name, you certainly would have known his dog, Charlie. The two of them were never far apart. He was able to create a job that allowed him, and of course, Charlie to spend their days in nature maintaining and restoring it back to its natural beauty. He took great pride in his work at Baikie Island and the local streams. Rain or shine he could often be found walking the trails, fishing, cutting wood or reminiscing with old friends. He lived hard, and worked even harder. Life will never be the same without him. He was truly some kind of wonderful.
In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the local SPCA.
A celebration of life will be held on February 12th 2022 at the Eagles Hall in Campbell River from 1-4 PM.
