March 20, 1954 - July 6, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Danny Dion. Danny was many things to many people; brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, friend and much, much more.
Danny was born March 20, 1954 in The Pas, Manitoba and moved to Campbell River with his family in the summer of 1964.
It was here in Campbell River that Danny found his true calling in life, to make people happy. Danny often said that is was "his job to make people smile; when you smile at people it makes them happy." Hugs were always free. Danny and his brother Walter were fixtures in Campbell River, everyone knew them as Campbell River's twins (even though they are not twins.) From riding his bike all over town, friendly waves at the bus stop and attendance at all community events, Danny's smile and friendly nature was infectious; he lived up to his goal of making people happy.
Danny was pre-deceased by his parents Lawrence (Dink) and Frances (Dodo) Dion, Sister Lorelei, and beloved auntie Norma Booth. He is survived by brother Walter Dion, sister Karen (Al) Hares, sister Michelle (Henry) Albrecht, nephews Shawn, Cory, Christopher, Leigh, Cale, Scott, niece Tracey and Aunt Bev, as well as many great nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.
Danny accepted life as it came. He always said, "when it's your time, it's your time". Due to a tragic fall and subsequent brain injury, sadly it was Danny's time. Danny will forever be remembered for his bright smile, sense of humour and the best hugs ever.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 11 am with a celebratory luncheon to follow in the church hall.
The family kindly declines flowers. Donations made to the Campbell River and District Association for Community Living would be greatly appreciated.
