In this great forest of life, in the tree of McDONALD, the branch of my dad has broken off. Rest in peace Dad.

Dad passed away this morning at C.R. Hospital. He was well taken care of for the last six weeks by the wonderful staff there. Pain is gone now. Cancer has affected many of us, and now has claimed another good person.

Ross was born in Wapella SK, July 22 1937. He was the third son of 5 children; all boys from Thelma (Knowles) McDonald and Jimmy McDonald. Ross quit school early to join the Canadian Royal Air Force. After 3 years, he decided to move on, and found himself in Campbell River, B.C. He had many relatives here in town and married a young woman named Sharon Berger. They had one son, Paul McDonald. Ross got a job at the local pulp mill and retired from there many years after. Ross was a member of the Eagles and the Legion. In his later years, he was more dedicated to the Oyster River Fire Department and took his volunteerism seriously. Ross enjoyed hunting, sports on TV, and almost never stop talking about his dogs.

He is survived by his only son Paul McDonald and grandson Xzander McDonald, brother Rae McDonald (Norma), as well as his partner Virginia Foss, Valerie Foss, Randy Foss, Aaron McCallum and Ashton Foss.

A coffee/tea will be held at the Eagles Hall, 1999 -14th Avenue on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 1-3pm.
