In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Cristen (Cris) Anne Conroy. Cristen passed peacefully at the Campbell River Hospital with close Friends and Family at her side.

Cris will always be remembered for her amazing contagious smile, infectious personality , and her mission to help and love others more than she was often able. That was more evident than ever in her final moments with us.

This last October Cris's father-in-law of 86 yrs was very ill at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Cristen put her job at the Beachwood Cafe aside to advocate for Dad, and stayed with him every day for 3 weeks nursing him back to health. As a result of her selfless efforts we still have a Father. Once back home she got the terrible news, a diagnosis of cancer. That was then found to be small cell cancer that had spread beyond repair.

Within a month of the final diagnosis she was gone.

She is predeceased by her Grandfather Patrick Conroy, and Grandmother Elizabeth (Bunty) Conroy. She lives on through her Daughter Shauna (Dustin) with grandchildren Ryder, Ayla, Nixon, and Finley, her daughter Shallane, and son Alexander.

She is survived by her Father Patrick Conroy, Stepmother Mary Cramer, Brother Don, Step-Brothers Jason, Logan, Elliot, Step-Sister Ashley, numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

As well as her partner David Auger.

Cristen was born in Vancouver, spent her early childhood and young adult years in Victoria, then living in Abbotsford, Nanaimo, Esquimalt, Winnipeg, then finally settling down in Campbell River in the Shelter Point/Stories Beach area.

Cris did many things in her work life. Gillnet Fisher, Lodge Caretaker, Logging Camp Line Cook, First Aid attendant, Home Care Nurse, Gardener/Landscaper, Farm Hand, Painter, Construction helper, Chambermaid, Store Clerk, Truck driver, Flagger/Road worker, and finally Cook/Waitress to name a few.

She enjoyed Fishing, Biking, Hiking, Walking and Gardening with the many beautiful flower and vegetable gardens she lovingly created. She loved her Arts and Crafts, photography, writing, reading, playing with her beloved Dog Beech who was born into her hands, and caring for her most recent rescue cat Angelo-Monkey.

Cris helped to raise many children in the community of single parents, and was kindly known as Aunty Cris. She was always quick to drop what she was doing for these children, and lend a hand to whoever needed help. No matter how she felt, what was happening, or what it took. This was a labour of unconditional love.

Over the years we saw her give so much of herself until there was nothing left to give. This was each time a mission, and driven focus to help, and do good things for others in need.

Also notable for 2007-2009 she gathered donations for the Tour De Rock, shaving her head, and donating her beautiful long hair to kids with cancer.

She loved and lived life as a free spirit on her terms, where helping others any way she could always came first.

Recently her own two grandchildren Ryder and Ayla became her greatest pride and joy.

Knowing she would not be able to be there for them in the future was the hardest thing for her in this.

There will be a celebration of Life open house for Cris at 3894 Searidge Plc. Campbell River, on her Birthday Saturday April 5th 2025 all day Saturday. This will be a potluck, barbecue, and bonfire. If people would like to come earlier on Saturday that is Ok as well.

Although you are gone Cris, you are still with us in spirit. You will never be forgotten for the kindness and love you had no choice but to leave behind.
