It is with the most profound grief and sorrow that we announce Missy’s sudden and unexpected passing at the tender age of 5. She passed away on September 14, 2006 in the Campbell River Hospital. Missy is survived by her parents Donavan and Shirley LeBlond, her two brothers Kyle and Kirk LeBlond, as well as her Grandma, Nanny, her closest Aunty Jen (T-Jen), Aunts: Budge, Jenny, Eunice and Alegha, Great-Aunt Karen, Great-Uncle Gordy, as well as her other uncles, and cousins, including one of her closest cousins Katrina (or X-atrina as Missy called her) and a great many others with whom her genuine happiness, love of life and kindness left a lasting impression.
On September 13th, which is when the picture shown was taken, she was happy, seemingly healthy and anxious to get to her 3rd day of kindergarten. By 1:50 the next day she was overcome by an unforseen illnes and from the security of her father’s arms, she drew her final breaths. According to the Coroner’s preliminary speculation a bacterial infection that attacked her kidney may have been the cause of death.
In Life Missy was the most friendly and happy little girl. We used to worry she was too friendly because every time we went for a walk on the sea walk, which we often did or even to the grocery store she would always say hello to the strangers she encountered. Often she would walk by someone and say to them “Hi, what’s your name?” or even just “Hi”.
We ask for those who will be attending her Celebration of Life Service at the Salvation Army Church at 291 McLean St. on September 21st at 12:00p.m. to please come dressed not in all black but rather casual dress with a little bit of colour. Her favourite colours were purple and pink. Instead of flowers we will be bringing one of her favourite things in the world, helium balloons which will be released at her burial.
