September 19, 1920 - January 18, 2020
The family would like to announce the passing of a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle and friend Clifford Howard McLean
"A Life Well Lived"
Born September 19, 1920 - Died January 18, 2020
An inspiration to his family & friends and others he met in his 99-year journey of life.
Cliff had a genuine love of family, a kind heart and caring manner.
A true Islander, Cliff was born in Nanaimo and lived most of his life on Vancouver Island, working in the forestry business. He began logging in Port Alberni in the 1930's and continued as a logging contractor (CH McLean Logging) until retirement in 1985, with a brief stint teaching at the Nanaimo Vocational School. He enjoyed fishing, sports, cards and games, he loved to travel to Hawaii and Reno, but most of all he enjoyed people. Cliff was in the Nanaimo Shrine Club, and a Freemason for 65 years.
Cliff made friends wherever he went. He lived in his own home, welcoming visitors and family until age 96. Cliff's wisdom & kindness were an inspiration to his family and many he met.
Survived and loved by his daughter Diane (Garry) Zeweniuk, two sons Gordon (Lana) & Victor McLean. Daughter-in-law Isabel McLean and two stepsons Wayne (Becky) & Don Walker. Also missing his great smile are 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 4 great/greats and many other family and friends each with fond memories to cherish. Predeceased by wife Patricia (2007), his 6 siblings, his eldest son Bruce (2014), many nieces & nephews.
We are grateful for the care he received from Dr Waite and the staff at Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville.
Your were our Royal Flush.
