Frank Chidley

April 9, 1926- August 24, 2013

87 years ago a very special light went on in Toronto when Frank Chidley was born.

That beacon would follow him on his move west to B.C. and Vancouver Island as a young man of 20 and would continue lighting the way his entire life.

Frank, an inventive self taught persevering chap, was by turn a farmer, Lancaster tail gunner, miner, beach-comber, hand-logger, commercial fisherman and tugboater. He was a salvage diver, welder, sawmill operator, caretaker, repairman, organic baker, father and grandfather.

His 5 boys and 3 girls were his proudest achievement and each one of them bares that distinctive “Chidley” brand. All emulating their father’s love of life, hard work, his sense of adventure, inventiveness, joy, love and laughter. Forever questing! Endlessly questioning! Fearlessly seizing every opportunity and miracle that life sends their way and running with it. Frank and Cyndy have been blessed with a wonderful 40 years together and 11 amazing grandchildren.

A heartfelt thank you from the family to the central nurses, homecare team, the pharmacy and Dr. DeBruin for all their amazing loving care for Frank during his struggle.

Cyndy and Family invite all who wish to celebrate Frank’s life to gather at the Oyster Bay Resort for a salmon and tuna BBQ on Sept. 29th at 2:30pm.
