Charles Emerson “Chuck” Prouty, age 71 of Lone Butte,

passed away at his home on Sunday, August 8, 2010

He was born on October 1, 1938 in Dryden, Ontario, the son of George and Ora Prouty. Chuck grew up and went to school in Kenora, Ontario. During his youth, he enjoyed baseball, hockey, and football. Upon completion of school, he joined the RCMP in 1962.

During his 25 year career, he was stationed in Port Edward

(Prince Rupert), Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii),

Richmond, Maple Ridge, Keremeos, and he chose to finish out his career in 100 Mile House in 1990.

Chuck was active in the Cariboo Team Penning Association,

100 Mile and District Outriders Club, The Trappers Association, The Lone Butte Rod and Gun Club, and he also worked as a hunting guide. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working with horses. Chuck also kept busy as a creative and talented woodworker.

He was predeceased by his parents. Survived by 2 daughters, Michelle (Godfrey) Williams, Tanya (Jim) Zeller, 5 grandchildren Samantha, Matthew, Ava-Beth, Brynna, and Chayla, 3 sisters Marjorie (Bob) Quinton, Linda (Mel) Honke, Shirley (Ken) Dowson, and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A memorial service was held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Evangelical Free Church in 100 Mile House. A reception followed at Chuck’s “No Time Ranch.”
