The family of Calvin Livingston is greatly saddened to announce that Calvin died unexpectedly at work on February 26, 2016
There will be an announcement regarding services at a later date.
My life partner Calvin was born in the Campbell River hospital to his late mother Alice Bell and late father Shirley LIVINGSTON, when they were 36 and 55 years old respectively. Cal was a delightful surprise 11 years following the last of his eldest sister Mavis (Stachan) and 2 older brothers Raymond and Maynard LIVINGSTON.
Cal graduated high school in 1969 and took time off to travel around Europe as well as the United States, Mexico, North Africa, Morocco and Hawaii. Immediately upon his return, he began working in the logging industry, starting at the bottom, setting chokers and other labour intensive positions while aspiring to operate the heavy equipment in the industry, finally settling to be the operator of the grand-daddy, specialized machine called the “SUPER SNORKEL.”
Cal was a proficient heavy equipment operator who loved his job, the people he worked with, the various camp “cooks”, as well he was a dedicated employee, as any would attest to, including his most recent employer Wahkash Contracting. People often asked him in recent past, “How come you’re not retired?” Cal would say “Well, you know my health is good, I feel great, I love my job and the people I work with, so why would I quit just yet?”
Cal was an avid salt-water fisherman his whole life (although some would beg to differ, ha ha), having recently acquired his Marine certifications. But he made up for it with his great cooking!
Cal was a proud Canadian who oddly enough was happy to pay taxes and contribute to the solid structure of our economy.
Cal was an extremely fiscally responsible person, absolutely hated credit cards. He was determined to be a cash and carry kind of guy.
Cal was a tender and passionate man who thoroughly enjoyed intimate time with me on the open waters of the West Coast inner and outer passage of Vancouver Island with our little doggies in tow.
He was a great father who loved his son Graeme with depth and dedication.
In our private moments, I would always say the mealtime prayer, holding hands while sitting beside each other on the couch at the TV tables and at the end of the prayer, Cal would say “Amen” and then we would kiss each other before starting our meal. This was what we did together, no matter what stressors the day would bring. Each meal included holding hands, saying a prayer and kissing each other afterwards.
In honour of the passing of Calvin Livingston, would you please love each other and tell each other how important they are to you. Be kind to animals.
I loved you Cal, with great zest!! You were My Lover, My Life, My Love!!! Stay Safe in Heaven and all I ask is that you come and visit me in my dreams and watch over me to keep me safe!

CELEBRATE A Legend,
now larger than life!
Calvin Livingston, an exceptionally warm aura of a human being has passed on and now knows “The Secret” of what’s on the other side. Calvin died instantly when he was electrocuted at work. Until this terrible accident occurred, he survived approximately 46 years in the logging industry and would have been 65 years of age this November 18, 2016.
Calvin leaves to mourn: his life partner Vicki, son Graeme, siblings Mavis, Ray and Maynard as well as extended family and close friends.
Cal was a gentle lamb who sincerely gave of himself, whether to help a friend or stranger in need or to step-up and help his fellow employee without being asked, because that’s the right thing to do. He was an honourable and solid man who you could always depend on.
We warmly invite you to celebrate this most wonderful man with us, as we begin to navigate through life without him on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Thunderbird Hall, 1420 Wewaikum Road/Dogwood Street. Kindly come and share any stories you may have of Cal as well as any photos. Itinerary will include snacks, refreshments, slideshow and open mike.
