It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brianne (Bri) McKenzie. Bri passed away on November 18th at the age of 36 after a long year of battling the effects of a spinal cord injury. Her goodbye message and information about her injury can be found on her Facebook page. Bri was born in Victoria and was raised in Campbell River. She spent her grade 11 year at Notre Dame in Saskatchewan and her grade 12 year in Vancouver and Campbell River. Bri graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, earning a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
Bri lived her life to the fullest. She excelled in athletics and was an inspiring yoga instructor. She had many adventures as she travelled extensively and touched the hearts of many people around the world. Bri spent several years living in Mexico helping others on their healing journeys. She found her passion in music, singing, and songwriting. Bri released her debut album in 2023, and her music can be found on Spotify under the name BriColibri.
Bri leaves behind her father David McKenzie, her mother Lori Tkachyk (Craig Spikman), her brother Bryce McKenzie, her partner Tomas Martinez, and other dear family members and friends.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses in Mexico, Victoria, and Campbell River who played a role in supporting Bri. We will announce if there will be a celebration of life in 2025.
