Boates,

Brian MacKenzie

Died in a vehicle accident on Monday, May 6th near his hometown of Nelson, BC. Brian loved playing hockey, golfing and fishing. He always had a sunny attitude and was full of fun and homor. Brian was a loyal and dear friend to many. He moved to Campbell River in 1990 and then to the Comox Valley in 1991. He managed the Nevada Bob’s Golf Outlet in Courtenay before partnering with his brother Dean in the several Panago Pizza businesses. The brothers were an amazing team, both in business and in fun.

Brian is survived by his father Rudy(Phyllis) of Nelson, his mother Helen and sister Laurie (Cary) Leung of Victoria, sister Sandy of Comox and brother Dean (Shelley) of Campbell River. After cremation, the family will hold an informal celebration of Brian’s life on May 25th at the home of Dean and Shelly Boates in Campbell River, 2 to 4 p.m. Friends and family are welcome. Please bring your pictures and memories of Brian to share. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s memory can be made to your favorite charity.

We would like to thank Gary Croft of Personal Alternative Funeral Service of Trail, BC for his kindness and understanding. Thanks also to all of our wonderful friends and family in Nelson, Trail, Comox and Campbell River who have helped us during this difficult time.
