Brenda Assu

In loving memory ~
Brenda Assu, beloved wife of Bill Assu and mother to Keely and Frank Assu; grandmother to Christina, Kevin, Perry, Alexander, and Solara, and great-grandmother to Kiara; passed away in her home in Cape Mudge on March 13, 2023.
Brenda was born on October 28, 1944 in Hazleton, BC to Gertrude Watson of the Gitsegukla First Nation.
She was predeceased by her mother Gertrude, brothers: Ralph, Charles, Richard, and Roddy; and other relatives on her side.
She is survived by her brothers Lawrence Watson and Robert Harvey.
She was married to Bill for 52 years and was a big part of the Assu family, Cape Mudge Community and We Wai Kai Nation.
She was predeceased by her father and mother-in-laws: Frank and Ethel Assu, and brother and sister-in-laws: Frank, Marina, Greta, Shirley, and Elaine.
She is survived by her Husband Bill, Daughter Keely and Grand-daughter Solara; Son Frank (Cathy), Grand Children: Christina, Kevin (Nitasha), Perry (Ohsan), Alexander, and Great-Grand Daughter Kiara. Brenda was also looking forward to meeting her new great-granddaughter from Perry & Ohsan, due in June 2023.
The family would like to thank the Kwakiutl District Council Staff and Nurses, We Wai Kai Staff, Marcella Perrault; Doctors and Nurses at the Campbell River Hospital, including her grandson, Perry. Dr. Sherriff, Dr. Wood, and Doctor Graham (her family doctor) and all the other medical personnel who helped Brenda over the years and in her final days.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Brenda on May 13, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Cape Mudge Hall.
