With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Betty Ann Crawford on April 9th 2021. Betty was born in Rossland, BC to Jeanne Hart Blaine and William Burton Taylor. Betty spent much time with the Blaine side of the family and enjoyed many years of visits and card games with her relatives.
Betty met her life partner Walter Crawford in Campbell River in 1954 and they had 60 years together raising their three much loved children, Katie (Rick) first, then Marsha (Richard) and finally Tim.
They raised their family first in Campbell River and then spent 7 years in Oyster Bay running Bennett's Point Resort where the kids flourished, and they all met life-long friends that enjoyed many visits to our fair island. Later they ran a backhoe business, then a commercial fish boat and finally a residential trailer park (Braeside) before retiring to their favourite home on Coho Rd.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Walter, brother Marshall and sister Shirley, both her parents and step-parents and her nephew Tony Ladret and many, many other loved family and friends. She was survived by her favorite little one, Ryan and all her children.
She and Walt enjoyed many great times with the Lewis's including trips to Hawaii and Alaska. Bettys' sister's family was a huge part of their early years together.
Betty enjoyed sewing, painting and camping around the lakes of Campbell River with friends and family. Betty and Walt especially enjoyed the camping trips with Marsha's step-children Erin, Lindsay and Kelley as well as Katie's niece and nephew Shea and Will Fielden, and Cam and Cindy Roney's daughter Kai. They also spent many winters joining other snowbirds down south, with stops in Las Vegas. Betty also made a few special trips to Europe, New York and the Caribbean with the children she adored.
The last 7 years were spent in Victoria, the city she loved. This was a quieter time with Walt, the kids and some special friends and a few very special relatives including Ken Palmer (Carol), Cam Roney (Cindy) and daughter Kai, (Dustin), and Jane Hilchey (Jim).
There were many other friends and family members that were much loved.
