It is with great sadness & heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Bernice Elaine Whonnock (nee: smith) at Comox Hospital on 12/27/2020 born on the 10/06/1960 at Alert Bay, B.C.
She was predeceased by parents Bert and Emma Smith and Son Aaron Whonnock.
Bernice resided in Courtenay, BC and commuted to Campbell River on a daily basis for 18 years as a Home Care Aide for the KDC. She provided care for many of our First Nations People on the Quinsam Campbell River, Cape Mudge and Comox Reserves. Bernice was well known, adored & respected.
She will be missed dearly. She is survived by her Husband Richard Whonnock, brother Arnie Smith (Julia) sisters Diana Spencer (Doug) and Caroline Laughington Smith (Bailee), Grandsons Tristan & Marcus as well as many nieces, nephews and a very large extended family.
Due to Covid, we are hopeful to host a celebration of life tentatively in May 2021. Thank you Drs/ Nurses in Comox Hospital.
