It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Barry Kenneth Bertrand at his home on December 3, 2016.

Barry was predeceased by his wife Wendy (2013) and son Christopher (2009). Barry is survived by his children Leon (Mellissa) and Racheal; grandchildren Brodie, Jessica and Josh; as well as a large loving immediate and extended family and numerous friends.

Barry was born in Big River, Saskatchewan and grew up in Duncan, B.C. He had a lifetime career with his family in the logging industry where he also met many dear friends. Barry’s door and heart were always open and his sense of humor and practical jokes brought joy and laughter to everyone his life touched. He gave selflessly and was always there to lend a hand or an ear. Barry was someone you counted on.

Barry was known as ‘Poppa’ to not only his own grandchildren but to all the children he loved. Barry had a love for cars, kids and friends and family but not as great as his first true love, his wife, Wendy. They enjoyed travelling and adventuring on many road trips to see the grandchildren in Tumbler Ridge.

Barry’s love of logging took him to new heights and areas of the West Coast and to places only eagles have soared. Barry was the life of the party, the laughter in the air and the rock of the family. He will be forever missed by an infinite amount of people. He has left to join many friends and family that passed before him but into the loving arms of his wife and son.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, 1999 14th Ave Campbell River, BC.
