HENSHALL,

Barry Allen Douglas

Henshall

was born 04 October 1944 in Campbell River. Predeceased by his parents, Richard Barry and Effie (Haines) Henshall, he is survived by his spouse, Carolyn, his son Michael (Robin) and daughter Sarah (Jason) and former wife Barbara. In addition, he leaves to mourn step-son Keith Wilson (Samantha) and step-daughter Terri Anne Wilson (Nicholas). Four grandchildren, Elijah, Naomi, Hannah and Coral were special to Barry as well as his sister Roxanne Madryga and brother Rod Madryga (Sue) and their two children Rod and Becky. Orphaned at age 10, Barry was raised by a loving extended family on Quadra Island where he was mentored by uncle Buford Haines. Although many of his aunts and uncles have predeceased him, he is survived by aunts Louise and Mary Haines as well as many cousins.

Barry was best known for his many years of working with the youth of School District #72. He believed that each student was special and should be guided to reach their potential. He was also active in Daybreak Rotary, the Campbell River Community Foundation, was a spirited volunteer auctioneer and served as director of CRTV for over 19 years.

Barry was a generous and community-minded person who had time for everyone. He loved Campbell River and always encouraged decisions that made our community prosper. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Campbell River Community Foundation (Henshall Family Fund) so that his work can continue.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Campbell River Community Centre on Friday, August 22 at 2:00.
