It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Barbara Mavis Helme on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Yucalta Lodge, Campbell River.

Barbara was born in Vancouver on May 4, 1930, to Martha Alice (nee Souden) and Frederick George Percival Poole.

Barbara is survived by her siblings Dick (Nola), Marg, Roy (Sylvia), Joan (Ernie), Gord (Ellen) and Bill (Rita)and many nieces & nephews.

Barbara will be forever missed by her loving children Rob (Carol), Joanne Helme, Dave (Debbie), Larry, Karan Helme (Don) and Tom. Barbara’s pride and joy were her Grandchildren, Taunya Helme, Dwayne Bonson, Derrick Bonson, Brad Penner (Jenn), Rick Helme, Melissa Helme, Ashley Helme, Marcie Duncan, Jon Duncan, Mel Bigas. The additions of her Great Grandchildren overjoyed her even more, McKenna, Jaydon, Chase, Brianna, Nathan, Jessica, Summer, Corbin and Elizabeth. Destinny and Aulston.

She was predeceased by her daughter Kathy Munroe in 1992 and her grandson Robert Helme.

Barb will be remembered first of all for her love of family and extended family. Many years were spent as a compassionate Homecare Worker. She enjoyed music and singing in the Church choir and joined the Bell Ringers. Volunteering for the Soup Kitchen was a high priority.

Barbara was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Eagles, Hospital Auxiliary and at the Salvation Army where she dressed the dolls. Barbara’s video taping of everything and everybody is legendary.

Mom loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time over the years in her camper.

A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church, 415 Pinecrest Street, Campbell River on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. A tea will follow the service at the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION HALL, 301-11th Ave., Campbell River.

ISLAND FUNERAL SERVICES/ELK FALLS CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, CAMPBELL RIVER, entrusted with arrangements.
