loken,

Barbara Ann

Barbara Ann Loken, of Graham, Washington, passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington on Tuesday, November 11, 2003. she was 65 years of age.

Barbara was born on July 12, 1938 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Gerald and Edith Brennan. She was raised in Vancouver, BC and Parksville BC. In 1960 she married Ronald Loken and in September they celebrated 43 years of marriage. Ron and Barbara raised their four boys Eric (Susan), Michael (Katie), Kevin (Portia), and Christopher (Katie) in Portland, Oregon and later Bellevue and Redmond, Washington. She was preceded in death by her son Michael in 1992. For the past three years Barbara and her husband have lived in Graham.

Barbara had a wonderful ability to make everyone feel loved and special whether it was a kind word, a warm hug, a beautiful blanket, or she would surprise you with something she remembered that you had mentioned in passing. She was an amazing homemaker and entertainer, with thoughtful details and effortless beauty. An incredible grandmother to Michael, Taylor, Christopher, Kayla and Aubrey, we lovingly referred to her as a “Baby Whisperer” for her uncanny ability to soothe and settle the fussiest baby.

Barbara and Ron have enjoyed extended trips in their RV to spend time with their son Eric and family in Phoenix, Arizona, and Barbara’s family in Campbell River, Canada. They have also enjoyed exploring the Western United States and Canada.

she loved to knit and sew, and created beautiful blankets, quilts and clothes for family members. She appreciated the intricacies of pine cones and bird feathers and loved to collect them on walks. Because of her curious mind you would often find her running outside to see what jet was flying above on its way to McCord Air Force Base. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for Skippers Inc. and later for Dr. Townsend.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 15th, 2003 at Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah, 98027.
