Averial Irene Waldref, aged 87, died peacefully at home on April 22, 2006 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Averial was predeceased by her husband Archie in 1990 and daughter Joyce in 1972.

Lovingly remembered, respected and sadly missed by her family; son Bruce (Elizabeth) of Surrey, Glen (Lorretta) of Cumberland, grandchildren Andrea (Mike) Allard of Maple Ridge, David (Charran) of Vancouver, Catherine Stead (nee Waldref), Darren (Kristi) Munroe of Campbell River, Loretta-Lynn Curtis of Surrey, Theresa (Alan) Brydon of Gold River, Darlene (Barry) Rorbeck of Regina and great grandchildren Kelsey, Fletcher and Lucas Allard of Maple Ridge, Ronny Franz, Gregory Curtis and Andrew Zaplotinsky of Surrey, Taylor and Paige Rorbeck of Regina and brother Hubert of Victoria, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends in Canada and the United States.

Averial was born and raised in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. In 1935 she moved to the city of Vancouver, BC where she met Archie Waldref in 1936 and in 1939 they were married. In 1946 the family moved to Campbell River, where Averial lived until 1993. Blindness overtook her and she was taken in and cared for by her son Bruce and his wife Elizabeth until her demise Averial was independent, caring, political, quick witted, intelligent, stubborn and loving. We will all miss her very much.

The family would like to welcome friends, neighbors and relatives to a celebration of life get-together for Averial on the 13th May, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Church Hall, 34 South Alder Street, Campbell River, BC from 1 pm to 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the CNIB or the Canadian Cancer Society.
