Audrey Joyce Gibbs
July 1, 1918 – February 11, 2011
It is with sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Audrey Joyce Gibbs, known to all as “Joyce”. She was born and raised in Victoria, BC, lived in Campbell River for many years and returned to her place of birth, where she passed away peacefully, in the Priory Hospital on February 11, 2011 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her parents, James & Elizabeth Pickard, daughter Barbara, husband Russell, son Jack, and sister Thelma. Her long-time, best friend, Mabel Scott passed on before her this past Fall. Joyce is survived by daughter-in-law Connie (Jack), son Gordon (Suparna), daughters Rosemary (Ron), Janet (Clayton), 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was being a wife and mother and lending a hand to help others wherever possible. A memorial service will be held in Victoria on February 19, 2011 @ 1:00 pm @ Colwood Pentecostal Church, 2250 Sooke Rd, Victoria, with refreshments following. A short graveside ceremony will take place on Monday, February 21st @ 1:00 at the Campbell River Municipal graveyard, Highway 19, Campbell River for those unable to attend the Victoria memorial. In lieu of flowers, a Dogwood tree will be planted @ Beach Acres Resort in her memory. Donations towards the tree may be made to Jan Fuller, #10-1051 Resort Drive, Parksville, BC, V9P 2E4. Mom always enjoyed participating in the recreational activities at the Priory Hospital where she spent her last years. Donations may also be sent to the Recreation Department of the Priory Hospital, in her memory.
