Passed away peacefully in his 95th year at Nanaimo Seniors Village on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 after a brief illness. Art will be remembered as one who served his community well having taught 15 years in Saskatchewan and 31 years in Campbell River. He was the last surviving member of Campbell Rivers Rotary Club, Charter Membership (formed 1946). He was proud to have been the chairman of the centennial committee in charge of building the original Library-Museum Tourist Office. Art was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Isobel (Coates). He will be fondly remembered and missed by his brother’s daughters, Jane Dau of Drumheller, Alberta and Catherine Sandberg of Frederickton, New Brunswick and his wife’s nephew Richard Coates of Vancouver, BC and their families. The family wishes to thank Dr. Janssen, the staff of Nanaimo Hospital, Nanaimo Seniors Village for their compassionate care. Also, Long Lake Chateau where he lived the last five years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Art’s memory to a charity of your choice.
