February 27, 1927 - December 10, 2018
After 91 years of love and laughter our beloved dad, grandad, and friend, Arthur Coben has peacefully exited this world to join the love of his life Victoria, best mate, Johnny, siblings, parents, granddaughter, and many canine companions. Born in County Cork, Kinsale, Ireland, Arthur's family moved to London, England when he was an infant. Arthur was one of 5, and the much adored son of Elizabeth and Henry Coben.

Growing up in war time London, and joining the British Royal Navy at the tender age of 17, Arthur served his country with great pride. Arthur and Victoria, moved to Edmonton in 1957, but soon settled in and around Vancouver, BC to raise their daughters. Continuing West, they eventually relocated to Vancouver Island to enjoy their grandchildren and great grandchildren in retirement. Arthur excelled at the game of darts throughout his life, earning several provincial championships.

His passion for music had him singing and entertaining well into his 70s and a visitor to his home was always treated to his collection of tunes from the 20's, 30's and 40's. Arthur found great comfort in animals, and was rarely without a rescued dog by his side. We celebrate the near 92 years Arthur spent on this earth, and the lives that continue on because of this kind and loving human, who's tender heart touched all who knew him. Arthur leaves behind his 4 daughters, son in laws, and 31 grandchildren and great grandchildren as his legacy, as well as his youngest sibling Rosie in Great Britain.

Family was everything, and although his absence from this earth leaves a hole in our hearts, his light will remain with us all, bringing a smile to our faces whenever his name is spoken. Our heartfelt appreciation to the amazing staff at Evergreen Seniors Home who gave him the best of care and friendship his last 6 months.

Please join his family at St. Patricks Catholic Church, CR, Dec 27th at 1 pm for funeral mass, followed by tea and celebration of life.
