November 3, 1954 - March 16, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Drew Thomson inform his friends that he went home to be with his beloved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at Victoria Jubilee Hospital where he was surrounded in love by his family.

Though he battled five years of cancer he continued to live life as though there was no battle. He loved well, loving God and loving others and was an amazing example of courage and commitment to not let the affects of the disease take from the life he so passionately lived.

Drew was born in Ocean Falls where he grew up until his family moved to Campbell River in 1966.  Drew graduated from CARlHI in 1972 where he was very active in sports.  He had a love for basketball and became a mentor coach and referee to many over the years.  Drew played flag football.  His real passion was running.  He ran in marathons and could be seen training as he ran down Hamm Road.  One of his proud moments was when he was accepted to participate in the Boston Marathon.

Drew worked at the Elk Falls Mill for many years where he touched the hearts of many of his friends and colleagues.  After the mill shut down he received his Realty License and was an employee at Royal LePage Realty Advance.  He was a very active part of the Christian Community here in Campbell River and Courtenay.  Drew had a servant's heart and was always there to give a helping hand, prayer and encouragement.   He and his wife Laurie were instrumental in starting the Comox Valley School of Ministry (Bethel) and recently also in Campbell River.

Drew went ahead of us to be with his Mom and Dad, Margaret and Stan Thomson.  He will be forever missed by his best friend and true love, his wife Laurie and most precious daughter Cheryl (Dave Fair) to whom he was a loving father; his brother-in-law Robert Pepper-Smith and Anna Atkinson who were always there to help; he was the best big brother to twin sister's Cindy Taylor and Sylvia (Mike) Janicki; and a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.  Drew was a very special friend to many.

In Drew's own words found on a Facebook post, "May you all, if u haven't already, discover the incredible "amazingness" within each one of you."

Thank you to Royal LePage Advance for your extension of grace and love by allowing Drew to continue his real estate work while he was working through his treatments.  Also, a huge thank you to the Emergency Staff at the North Island Hospital, Comox Valley for their heroic efforts to help Drew in his time of crisis.
