In loving memory ~
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, Andrew who died peacefully at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.
Andrew grew up in Saltair and graduated from high school in Chemainus, B.C. He attended Malaspina College and the British Columbia Institute of Technology where he received two diplomas in Mechanical Technology and Sawmill Management. His working career started in Prince George, then Vancouver and ended in Houston, B.C. working most of his career for Houston Forest Products. Andrew throughout his life was an avid fisherman. But his other interests included hunting, gold panning, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and motorcycling. He toured B.C., Yukon, across Canada and into the United States all by motorcycle.
Andrew enjoyed many fishing and hunting trips with family and friends but had a special love and respect for the people and wilderness of Northern B.C.
The family would like to thank the medical staff of the Bulkley Valley, Vancouver General, Nanaimo Regional, Royal Jubilee and the University of Northern B.C. hospitals as well as the Houston and Smithers Paramedics for the excellent care they have given their brother over the years.
Andrew is survived by his brothers John (Betty- Ann) and Glen (Elena), sister Katherine, his nieces/nephews, James (Mya), Kristina (Garry), Daniel (Jade), Martina (Dan), Claudia and great nephew, Cedric. He is predeceased by his mother, Gladys (2007), brother, Gordon (2021) and father, Alan (2021).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Yet it isn't the gold that I'm wanting
So much as just finding the gold.
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.
