Andrea died fighting fiercely for her life after an extended battle with cancer. She lived years longer than predicted, fueled by her positivity, immense strength of will, her faith, and the support of her family and friends. Andrea will be remembered always with much love by her husband of 19 years, Steve, their daughters Grace and Faith; parents Marianne, Art, Denise and Don; siblings Ryan (Tina), Tanya, Carmen (John); niece Amy and nephews Chad and Brayden; cousins esp. Sonja and Shena; BFF Leah and the UVic writer girls (Gwendolyn, Kirsten, Lisa and Julie), as well as an extended community of family, friends and co-workers.
Andrea lived an extraordinary life. Those who were touched by it will never forget the positivity and energy she brought to everything she did. Co-workers will remember her for the noise her heels made when she was on a mission, which was every day! Friends will remember she was always there for them, never too busy – no matter how busy she was – to take time out to celebrate their victories in life and invite them to celebrate hers.
Andrea loved to travel and in her short time on the planet she managed to see quite a bit of it through both work and play. Her favorite travel memories were from a trip to Hawaii with Grace when she was just a baby, to Phoenix with the whole family, to Asia with Dave Egles (both on a mission) and the time she spent a lifetime in Italy one fall with her husband.
Special thanks to Dr. Sharon Allen – you are a doctor of the highest order and we will always be grateful for your perseverance, guidance and care. Thank you also to Dr. Kathleen McFadden for joining the medical team for the final phases and blowing us away with your personal dedication. We were truly blessed to have these incredible professionals looking after Andrea’s medical needs.
A celebration of Andrea’s life will be held on July 13th at 2pm, at the Tigh Na Mara Resort, in Parksville, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a fund in Andrea’s honour for the BCCA to help to end cancer forever.
