It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Alouis Lampert. Louie passed away peacefully on June 3, 2015 at the Campbell River Hospital with his daughter Jennifer by his side. He leaves behind his loving wife Ria, their daughters Petra and Jennifer and his beloved dog Duke. He also leaves behind his sister Annemarie (Gerhard), his brother Heinz, his other children Claudia, Bettina, Thorston, and Ilona, his three grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, his extended family and many lifelong friends in Canada and Germany.
Louie was born in a small town in Germany, where being one of eight kids, he grew up on the farm his parents owned. It was growing up on the farm that gave Louie his hard work eithic and his love for gardening. Louie later emigrated to Canada in 1967, he had learned construction as a trade in Germany and spent all his life in construction having worked in Egypt, Africa, Germany, and Canada (Campbell River, BC and Ontario; where he worked for Freure Homes for 20 years). Louie was known for being the definition of hard worker, a creative jack of all trades he could build or fix anything and loved doing so, always keeping himself busy. Louie was a loving husband and father, a good man with a big heart who always provided for his family no matter what.
Louie’s absolute favourite hobby was fishing. He fell in love with Campbell River while visiting for a fishing trip and didn’t hesitate to move his family here in the 70s when the fishing was incredible. After having to move back to Ontario for work, when he finally retired in 2003, he did not think twice to move his family back to CR. Louie in between working and fishing, had built their first home in Campbell River from the ground up. At 70 years young and “retired”, he completely gutted and renovated their current home. In his spare time you could find him at the fishing pier where he was known locally as “Lucky Louie”. Louie also had a passion for the outdoors, gardening, animals, photography, and was known for his story telling and jokes. His legacy is one of ingenuity, friendship, laughter and his famous smoked salmon. Louie will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his family takes solace knowing that one day we will all be reunited again.
His family would like to extend a very special thanks to Dr. Klein, and all the various nurses, doctors and homecare staff who have helped and cared for him over the past two years with respect, dignity and compassion, especially during the time of his passing.

A celebration of life will be held privately at our home for friends of the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the B.C. Lung Association.
Louie’s family will be spreading his remains privately at his favorite fishing spots. Our hearts are lightened by the memory of his life and all that he has added to our current existence. He will be missed, and loved - Rest in peace.
